This Chawan is handmade by skilled artisans in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture, Japan. The long history and tradition of Mino Yaki pottery can be admired in the wonderful natural texture of this bowl. Each bowl is unique in form and the subtle asymmetry reflects the design principles of Wabi-Sabi and the philosophy of Zen Buddhism. Beauty in imperfection and the organic development of nature.
The black colour (with a faint green spot on the exterior) provides a nice contrast with the jade green of Matcha tea.
DIRECTIONS: It is always best not to wash traditional pottery with soap. Simply use hot water to rinse out your tea bowl, dry and store away safely to enjoy it for many years.
